You won't hear "I'm bored" from children visiting the Richmond Region. Paramount's Kings Dominion has more than 200 rides, a 19-acre water park and costumed characters like Scooby Doo and SpongeBob. The Metro Richmond Zoo's naturalistic exhibits are home to 600 animals including giraffe, kangaroos and chimpanzees, while visitors to Maymont's Children's Barn and Nature Center can visit with goats, geese and otters.

The newest addition to the Region's list of family fun, the newly-opened Children's Garden at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, features a tree house, international village and sand and water play areas. Looking for indoor activities? Check out the Children's Museum of Richmond and its next-door neighbor, the Science Museum of Virginia.
